Hand Rehabilitation Lab
Sept. 2026–presentNC State University · Dr. Derek Kamper
Testing and documentation of existing flexible EMG electrodes and a custom amplifier to establish how to set up and use the hardware.
- Identified the amplifier PCB’s power and signal connections, established the setup, and recorded forearm muscle activity using Analog Discovery 3 and WaveForms.
- Developed a MATLAB script to compare relaxed and contracted recordings through time-domain plots, FFTs, and power spectra.
- Created an illustrated setup guide and README covering wiring, power connections, electrode placement, and recording files.
Helping Hand
Jan. 2026–presentElectrical Hardware Lead · Robotic prosthetic hand project
Responsible for developing the PCB and supporting electrical hardware for a multidisciplinary team building a robotic prosthetic hand.
- Defined electrical requirements and selected components for an 18 V input, a 5.3 V servo supply, and a 3.3 V logic supply.
- Simulated buck-converter startup and a 100 mA–4 A load step in OrCAD X/PSpice to evaluate voltage regulation and a 100 mV ripple limit for four servos stalling simultaneously.
- Created the buck-converter schematic in Altium and selected a linear regulator for the logic supply.
- Established team communication through Discord, wrote the development plan, assigned a component task with specifications, and guided servo selection.
In progress · Power-stage simulation and schematic complete; remaining circuitry and PCB layout are next.
